






Roosevelt “Toonk” Howard, a 1971 Apex High School graduate, was an outstanding multi-sport athlete and student. Initially attending Apex Consolidated, he excelled in basketball and track before transferring to Apex High School. At Apex High, Roosevelt became a three-sport star in football, basketball, and track, earning numerous accolades including All-Conference honors in basketball and the “Wake County 1-A Player of the Year” in football. He was instrumental in Apex’s 1971 Conference Championship football victory and was recognized as the school’s “Most Outstanding Male Athlete.” After graduation, Roosevelt enjoyed a 50-year career at what is now Apex Tool Group, retiring in December 2023. He continued his athletic pursuits, leading his company’s basketball team to three Raleigh City League championships and coaching AAU basketball. Today, Roosevelt is a proud family man, mentor, and community figure, grateful for his accomplishments and the opportunity to enjoy his golden years with his loved ones.
